My Garmin came with a plate that is supposed to be used as a ground =
plane (I didn't know this until a friend who has the same 430 read it in =
the installation manual). Its small, about 4" x 6". Meanwhile, I had =
already made a mounting plate that stands up about 3 inches from the top =
of the canard and allows the GPS antenna to be hidden under the canard =
cover. This mounting plate is about 4x6 inches and with 3" legs and =
3/4' flanges that are siliconed to the top surface of the canard.
Works GREAT!
