Thank you for your very informative info. A schematic and parts list would 
really help me when you have time, as I am electronically challenged. 
In recalling the engine fire incidents for Velocities, it appears mostly 
likely causes would be in order (1) exhaust system breaks or failures  (2) blown 
spark plug or cylinder (3) oil line break (4) fuel system break or leak.( 
although don't remember any fires with this cause)  Anyhow I would add some more 
fuses.
You mentioned covering wire with fine bid??? Is that to protect it from heat 
or to attach it to something, not the cowl??
