REFLECTOR: fire warning (was explosion)

I would doubt that it is tempered glass- it would loose temper really fast
at the temperatures that it is designed to see, (glass it tempered by
heating it and then misting cold water onto the surface to set up a great
deal of tension in the glass) I will bet that it can be cut just like
regular glass- take it to any glass shop - they have all the tools already,
and if you want a circle, they can do that for you easily. but Richard has a
good point unless you have a clear path back to the firewall, it will be
difficult to look back there and see very much- maybe the camera is the way
to go?

2 ways.  First is with a waterjet.  Second is cut it before it's
tempered.  Both are nearly impossible to do at home, both are easy for a
good glass shop.

There's also the practical matter of getting back to the firewall to look,
while you're flying the airplane and the fire alarm is going off.
