In my new "drop-in" wiring harnesses I am using 18 gauge wire for the
pitch and speed brake motors, and 20 gauge for the roll trim. I could
easily use 22 gauge for the roll trim, but then I would have to inventory
yet another size wire for a single purpose.

As far as the G5 and G7 grips go, I too thing that the 26 gauge wire is a
bit light, so I have always rewired them for operating external
directional relays.
