At the factory they vary the canard length rather than change incidence.

I don't know the formula, but low incidence is dangerous so be careful.

Burrall, thanks for the input. I seem to have about 3/4" TE up in cruise with the CG in the middle of the first flight test range. This is what led me to the decision to lower my incidence a bit.

Hi Kevin,
Congratulations on your first flights! An amazing accomplishment.
Be very careful about decreasing the canard incidence...could cause bad stall habits for the main wing. What is the elevator position relative to the canard when you run out of trim?
In cruise it should be in trail or slightly trailing edge up. If the elevator is way up or all the way up then maybe there is too much canard incidence. If it is in trail or slightly up you don't need less incidence, you simply need more trim pressure. Make darn sure your CG is where it is supposed to be as well.
Hope this helps

Hello group,
Pleased to announce first flight of my Subaru EG-33 Velocity STD RG on Saturday, Oct 4th. I have just over 3 hours on it at the moment and am working out a few bugs with the gear box cooling, but other than that, all systems are working well. I have been able to achieve 165kts indicated at 8500 ft, but run out of down trim. I am adjusting my canard about 1/2 - 2/3 bubble negative from where it was originally set. I would like to know if any other builders have have similar issues with canard incidence.
