Question, On my 173RG, this is also the Naca vent for the Oil cooler. Are you having any cooling issues blocking the vent off?
I know on my Old Cherokee we would adjust the oil temp by adjusting the intake on the inlet to the oil cooler. Thank you, Jeff

Several us up "north" have installed a second cooler in the nose (mine is directly on top of the first in a 173FGE) that only recirculated cabin air for heating.    Works very well.

I had a blower on the system naca intake at first a few years ago, The
blower motor just did not work as well as I had hoped.  Now If i had a
separate heater core
plumbed with a  blower just recirculating the cabin air I think that Idea would work. But in an effort to keep it simple I am going to work through this idea with a smaller duct  .  I a perfect world I will be faster because of Less Drag. Cool better by allowing the air to slow down and grab more heat from the heater core. Be able to us the extra heat to heat the cabin and be very simple.
Bad part is I just painted the plane I will have to touch it up.:(

> Ron,  I was attempting the same but just don't get the temps you folks get.  I duct tape off about 80 percent of the cooler front face in about a minute if it's cold.  One can't really see it and it removes even quicker.  Not elegant.  I this the circulation of air from cabin to cooler via bilge blower fan back into cabin is a better choice.  If I plumb it I will cover the NACA and blow cabin air through the cooler and overboard in summer.
