I used that exact method to get the door pin bushings out I’m sure it works just fine on the wing bushings too. Although I believe the original question was about how to get the bolts out of the bushings without softening up the epoxy, so this method would not work for that…..

Paul, I had to remove the main wing spar bushings to realign the wing spar with the main spar. The factory had drilled and installed the bushings in the wrong location. Anyway, I used a soldering iron to heat the bushings up to get the resin to release. It worked perfectly and it all turned out well. A small amount of heat shouldn’t hurt.

Hi all,

I have a request for advice from the collective. I have an older XL-RG fastbuild kit and am preparing the main gear legs for carbon wraps, and the steel pivot bushings need to come out first. The factory said that they were only temporarily pressed in for transport and they will just come out with a few taps with a hammer, but they will not move, no matter what size hammer I use! I have tried cold on the bushings to try and get them to contract - no good. I am concerned about what effect there might be on the legs if I was to try heating the bushings. Any advice out there on how I can get them out?

Many thanks,

The main gear doors leave the lower portion of the wheel/tire exposed on my STD/RG.

I'm just wondering if all Velocity aircraft with retracts are built this way?

Has anyone done anything to close off this area as well?

I figure this could be accomplished with either "grass cutters" like they did on the Staggerwing Beech or pehaps an outboard door arrangement..

Are the current retract models configured this way?

Heat gun or torch inside the tube.

Epoxy will soften well before damage might occur.

Remove tubes (with pliers, obviously, because they will be hot!) Scott B

I am planning to update my Blue Mountain G3 EFIS One this winter with the Garmin G4X touch. But until then, I have found that most of my problems with the BM system was because it had a demo or damaged version on the Nav data base installed from the factory. Through various other purchases of other working and non working BM units, I have at least three different copies of the BM Nav data with the newest being from 2006, which works the worst of the three. My question is, is there someone on the reflector that ever subscribed to the BM nav data update service, and still has a copy of one of your last updated Nav databases? And if so, would you be willing to e-mail me a copy? I can receive files up to 20meg to my e-mail address listed below. The Americas Nav data base should be a zipped file named Americas. If it was unzipped it should be named something like avdb.dbz. If there isn't anyone on the reflector that ever subscribed to the BM Nav Data update service, but but still has a working copy of the BM America's nav data base, I would be in you dept if I could get a copy. About a year ago I tried to pay for a one time update from the person that was selling the BM Nav Data update service, and he never answered my e-mails.

Andrew,

I looked and I have EFIS lite installation zip files from 2007. Do you know if the Lite software will work with the EFIS one?

This mostly-completed 173RG kit was mentioned on one of the canard forums. I'm posting it here for anyone whose looking for a bargain (and a big head start) on building a Velocity.

I don't have any information about the kit or seller other than what's listed in the attached flyer and the following contact details:
