I installed a NACA scoop from a Lancair IV in the bottom cowl with a K&N air filter from a Dodge Viper with plumbing going up to the intake on the engine. I have a Cirrus SR22 alternate air door at the intake if things go wrong. I can't speak to how successful it is because I have not flown it yet, but it is installed in a high pressure area and it works good on the Lancair.

I can't speak to the benefits of a scoop, but Malcolm told me once not to
center it under the cowling. He said that debris from the nose wheel will
get flung up into it.

Thanks for the shout-out... we do have a narrow deck Lycoming, but it
dynoed at just over 300 HP, with high compression pistons...

This by Scott Swing who flew it as seen in a you tube video. Whether
this was MPH or KTS really doesn't matter, Here is why. I own a XLFG
with a 350hp Chevy V8. Other than downhill I have only seen 174KTS flat
out!
Now granted it is still in rough primer but I don't believe paint will
make up for the airscoop I have hanging below the belly for the
radiator.

Our sleek airframes don't like stuff hanging off of them.

N427VA a SERG 427 V8 useing NACA scoops to cool however, hauls ass.
Bill and Brett did it right IMHO!

Well that makes me feel a little better.
I do have to say mine climbs well but that is usually what excess horsepower does anyway.
My apologies.
