REFLECTOR: Canard angle of incidence

I believe there are too many variable to worry about this .05 difference.
As I recall, the real important detail is the relationship between angle of
incidence on the canard and and the wing. I think the carnard should have
3 degrees more AOA. Of course now you have two separate measurements with
the resulting measurement tool error.

And for those that have the WingCo canard, it has a different camber, so
Scott suggested that you might want to use the standard Velocity Popsickle
stick shim on the canard template to for a little less AOA due to the
additional lift of the WingCo canard.

As you might infer, I don't believe the level of accuracy for our plance is
anywhere near .05 on anything.

Matt,

IMHO .05 deg Is way more than close enough even if you're totally anal. If
you take a dozen measurements along the length of the canard you will
likely find more variation than that small difference. On top of that, how
accurate is the main wing incidence and are both wings exactly the same?
How level is the airframe? Yeah, you're splitting frog hairs.

P.S.: My plane trims out as about as good as it gets and I don't have
anything that measures down to .05 deg.

Yes, the book and gauge are from the factory. The drawing is from the
factory showing how they set the bubble at the front line of the level.
According to the drawing, this is +.2 to +.3 up. I am just questioning 5
hundredths of a degree I have over .3
I know setting the angle is important, and that small angle may in fact be
too much, or it may not matter at all. I just want to make sure it is
ok/not before I change it or leave it alone.

Where did your info on the +.35 up come from in reference the angle when
the bubble is centered?

Matt

Sorry, I'm not sure I follow you. The book is from the factory and the
incidence gauge is from the factory.

Here's what I think I understand.

The canard should be at a +.35 degree incidence. The gauge from the
factory has a -.35 degrees offset. So when the canard is set with the
correct incidence, the top of the gauge will show level.

I thought the incidence gauge was set so that the canard is at the proper
incidence when the gauge is level.

Howdy from Phoenix. I have my canard installed and the angle of incidence
is +.35 on my digital level.
I had sent my jig in last year to be checked for accuracy. It was returned
with a clean bill of health and a drawing, which I have attached, showing
you guys set +.2 to +.3 up.
Am I splitting hairs, or do I need to re-set my angle?
