Brian,

I have a Mazda B 2000 alternator on my Franklin that has been trouble free. I think it is rated at 55A and has an internal regulator.

Hmmph.

I bought two 60 amp alternators from National Air Parts, many years ago, spending more than $500 (per alternator). I even bought two of these, thinking I was buying reliability.

It was chronically under voltage with the stock voltage regulator, never producing more than 13 volts. I emailed them about this, and they said that was within design. So, I replaced the voltage regulator with an off the shelf replacement that fits perfectly. I flew around with it, and decided to upgrade my spare alternator too. I removed the cover and found that a stator lead had burned through where it is held down by a screw.

In my opinion, this is not a difficult problem to fix, I think I could even do it myself, but I'd rather pay to have it done properly. I spent a premium on a real alternator, then they come back with a response like this?

This is poor customer support, and is uncalled for. Just letting everyone else out there know about how they treat their customers.

Unit was discontinued years ago. Sorry no service available.
