REFLECTOR: NACA conversion.

I did this awhile back on my STD FG. The cooling has improved somewhat
over the armpit scoops and I do believe I have a little less drag. I
did not do before and after tests but I would guess a top end
improvement of between 3-5 knots by taking the armpit scoops out. If I
were you, though, I don't think I'd mess with it if you don't have a
cooling problem. The reduction in drag is minimal compared to the
amount of work you'll expend on the conversion. Another drawback is
that you'll have a little less headroom for backseat passengers.

My situation was the same as yours. I didn't build the aircraft and did
not have a lot of experience with fiberglass. Nevertheless, the
fiberglass was probably the easiest part. More difficult is the
plenum/baffling.
