REFLECTOR: Oil Cooler Duct Heater Valve

A basic question - before I permanently fix the heater valve in place and
close up the oil cooler duct, is it advisable to give the aluminium plate a
going over with alodine or other corrosion preventative coating, or is it
ok to just leave it bare shiny alum?
