REFLECTOR: HPN

Unless Class B or C airspace exists, towers by there very nature are VFR and should be able to sequence you in. However, I have found that the inability of today's tower controllers or laziness,  makes them re lie
on the approach control to sequence the VFR traffic with the IFR. If Class B or C airspace does not exist, you will not be wrong in contacting the Tower directly....You may be delayed!

Tomorrow I'm flying in to HPN.  Can I contact the tower directly or do I 
need to go through approach?  I seem to remember hearing something to 
that effect.
