REFLECTOR: Antennas

Dick,

The problem is that the ELT you have is a dual-band, 406 MHz/121.5 kHz. The
only antenna that is certified to work with it is the one that came with it.
However, it would not necessarily need to be installed externally, as the
manufacturer intended for a metal fuselage. I was intending to install it
in the back of a strake, along the wing spar. That makes it horizontal,
rather than vertical, but who knows what orientation the fuselage would have
after a crash?

Subject: REFLECTOR: Antennas

I am currently building an XLFG and am looking for advice on antennas. I of
course have the nav / com antennas in the winglets and did the marker beacon
in the floor. My problem is I can't seem to find a ELT antenna that will
work internally and I sure don't want that ugly 18" whip on the outside of
the plane. With the new frequency, none of the internal antennas are
recommended. Any advice?
