It's really Contiguous United States (the states that touch) - but that is basicly the same thing:)

Things I always take:

- Water
- A large size EMPTY jar... an empty Gatorade bottle has worked well many times
- Granola bars
- A backup handheld radio with a headset adapter
- A spare headset (although I've never needed to use it)
- Spare inner tubes (nose and main)
- A small coil of spare safety wire, spare electrical wire, & some spare crimp on connectors
- A quart or two of oil (you can't be sure any given FBO will have your brand)
- Some JB Weld (amazing stuff!)
- A small flashlight
- The membership listing for Central States Association (you ARE a member, aren't you??)
- And... (very important)... LOTS of cash.  You can solve almost any problem with it!

Other things I really like:
- Daylight (others may disagree, but the statistics bear out that it's much safer, esp. for cross countries)
- LOTs of fuel
- A smartphone (for weather, etc. when you're on the ground)

REFLECTOR: Long trip - what to bring?


Guys,

I will be heading out for a long, multi-stop XC this week.  Probably be away for 1-2 weeks, depending upon weather, work, my tolerance for long flights.  Basically, I'm headed to Minneapolis for a conference on Friday, stay there until next Wednesday, up to see my parents in Southern Saskatchewan, up North to Saskatoon where I need to give a talk, then from then on its whatever I want - straight home or a more circuitous route back.

My question to you guys is - what should I bring?  Right now, I have a pretty good tool kit assembled, a spare main/nose tire, batteries, a collection of typical fasteners used, oil, spare gap tape.  I'll have lots of room, so weight isn't really an issue (just me flying with the occasional hitchhiker).  Any pearls of wisdom from those who have done this before?
