REFLECTOR: Annunicator panel

I'm finishing up my annunicator panel and now I'm trying to decide on
colored text (amber or red) on a black background or black text on a
colored background (see example).

I think the former looks cleaner but the latter would tend to get your
attention faster.

Just wondering what the collective thinks. :-)
