REFLECTOR: Roll trim mod suggestions

I've been been flying with the factory setup for 13 years. Early on I changed the S spring to full width, no narrowing. The Navaid autopilot and GPS coupler to the Garmin 295 work fine, as well as the roll trim motor. In flight the trailing edge is a little high.

I have heard this same discussion since I purchased my kit in 2005. My suggestion is that you spend your time making your flight controls as smooth as possible the factory trim systems are working just fine for me. Your results my very, but I would give the factory setup a try.

On the ground, without air loads, it seemed to slip quite a bit. The only thing I did different during the build was to coat the string with a little belt dressing. It still slipped (on the ground). I haven’t touched it since. It works just fine in the air. Frankly, since beginning flight, I haven’t given it much thought. It is just not an issue. I trim subconsciously in both roll and vertical modes with the standard “coolie hat” switch. Somehow without thinking about it, the airplane stays trimmed in both modes.
