REFLECTOR: Garmin GDU 37X

I have a dual G3x, GTN650, GtS23 transponder, GMC305, Garmin roll and pitch servos, GDL39R and all the other stuff that goes with it.
I have most functions up and running, but do to bad weather, haven't had time to check out the autopilot system.
The GDL39 traffic is super, but still have issues with downloading free ADSB weather (I'm sure this is my fault, not an equipment issue).
I also bought the Vertical power pro system and used fast approach wiring harnesses.

The system installation is not for the weak of heart or mind--you really do have to read and understand several hundred pages of installation guidance.
That said, its a great system that should almost equal the Garmin 1000 for about one third the price.

Garmin offers bundling on the map products, so if you want full geo referenced IFR capability (I'm using a GTN 650), it will be $1100 a year. You can get a lessor bundle of VFR maps starting around $600.
If all you have is just the G3x with no other products, its a lot cheaper.

Subject: REFLECTOR: Garmin GDU 37X

Is there anyone on the reflector currently flying the Garmin GDU 37X single or dual EFIS system with Autopilot servo's? How do you like it, engine monitoring, Autopilot???? How much is the Nav Data subscription? If you allow the Nav Data subscription laps, will the GDU 37X still allow you to use the expired charts, taxi diagrams and approach plates? Now that you are flying this Garmin EFIS unit, would you have installed or done anything different?
