REFLECTOR: Steering dampener

Ron,
Without the dampener with the nut tight once the T/O roll begins there is not much or brake input but what is needed is firmer. Without the nut tight and with the dampener small direction changes are much easier both desired and undesired. True upon landing too. It is pilot induced like slight over correction in a tail dragger. A little rudder or a little asymmetric braking causes a much more lively response as one chases the plane. It's not wild or anything it is just more than this pilot has been used to in the past 600 hrs. I like it but a lighter touch is recommended on the rudders and brakes at speed.
