is it 2 miles per hour per thousand or 2 % per thousand? If 2 % of ias at 10,000 would be 20 %. if IAS is 140 it would be 28 mph or kts added Jim

SIMPLE TAS...
It was posted..I can say that for the
4,000 ft speed the IAS and TAS are very close.
A simple rule of thumb to use is 2% per thousand
increase.
Example, Your flying at
10,000' . So 2 % of that is 20 KTS or MPH. So whatever your indicating on the airspeed, just add 20 to it,
giving you your TAS.
