REFLECTOR: Towing

Rene,I experienced a crack in my nose leg taco area too.  Also I learned from a very small family run hardware sourcing outfit in NW Indiana that the big bolt hardware market is rife with phony knock off bolts from Asia that are not at all to spec, but also nearly impossible to identify.  Terry

Yes. I don't know if the nose gear pivot bolt broke causing the reinforcing "taco" weld to break or the reverse or something else. But I replaced the nose gear and added the dampener. A Velo shimmy is not like a Cessna shimmy. Not the same animal at all. I'll send a couple pics of the gear too FYI.

      I use an electric tow that clamps on two machined depressions one on each side of the forks. Everything has compromises so they are only 3/8 " deep. The tow clamps on and away I go on RG. My hanger has a lip too. My choice solo is to power into the hanger or tow. I push or pull on the canard all other times and always(so far) ask the linemen to let me park so they will not need to move me.
