Yes. 
I don't know if the nose gear pivot bolt broke causing the reinforcing "taco" weld to break or the reverse or something else. But I replaced the nose gear and added the dampener. A Velo shimmy is not like a Cessna shimmy. Not the same animal at all. 
I'll send a couple pics of the gear too FYI.
