REFLECTOR: Gascolator requirements in Canada (Bob Huntingford)

Thank you Fred, Richard, and Reiff for responding. I sort of guessed
that it would have to be mounted on the firewall a little higher than
the sump tank. However, talking to my AME, he says that could introduce
air into the fuel pump (because it is not at the lowest point) and spoil
a perfectly good day. I know of one other person building an RV-10 where
the manufacturer states NOT to use a gascolator and MD-RA is still
insisting that he put one in. I guess they don't care if we kill
ourselves as long as we meet the rules. I will purchase one and put it
as low as possible. Thanks again for all your help.

I mounted an ANDAIR Gascolator on the firewall just to the right of the electric fuel (priming) pump. While not the lowest point of the fuel system it seems to satisfy the MD-RA. For appearance sake, raising the priming pump a few inches would make the Gascolator the lowest point in the engine side fuel system.
