REFLECTOR: Rough River - Apology

Our plans to fly down to Rough River didn’t work out too well this year.
The plan was to leave early Friday afternoon but the rain in KY was a
showstopper, so we decided to go early Saturday morning. About 50 miles
south of Indianapolis, (we’re flying from Wisconsin) we started seeing the
ground fog covering what looked like most of southern Indiana. Every AWOS
and ATIS we could tune in south of us was reporting 200 ft ceilings. We
turned around and landed in the small town of Greencastle Indiana (4I7).
Very nice airport with a little café and a few hotel rooms in the FBO. We
kept checking the weather and the fog was just not lifting. We had lunch
and walked into town for a while. With the weather still questionable and
it getting late in the afternoon we just decided to head back home. Still a
nice day of flying, but we’ll just have to try again next year. The Rough
River Fly-in is definitely worth the trip. Check out the pictures Brett has
posted at http://www.roughriver.org/picture_gallery.php

Tim - We're sorry you couldn't make it. The weather was horrible, and we
didn't fly either, but some did, and we had a great time hanging out and
talking canards.

All - I would like to put in my plug for more Velocity drivers to put this
on their calendar, and I think the folks that have attended in the last
couple of years (Dugas, Kufalk, Bourgeois, Dallas, Nelson, Rhodenbaugh, and
several others) would recommend it as well. Some have felt like outsiders
in the past and seen this as a "Cozy" or "plans builder" event. But I have
to say that the community has welcomed us with open arms, and we always have
a great time. And, many years you can see more canards here than at any
other event, and see many of them fly or get a ride, which is not the case
elsewhere. It's also a great time of year for Kentucky with the leaves
changing color and the days not too hot. So please consider! it, I'd be
happy to give folks more information offline if you're interested (I run
thier website, roughriver.org <http://www.roughriver.org/> as well). Dates
for next year are September 26/27th...
