REFLECTOR: Glareshield-panel interface

Mine just lays on the top and is attached with a single small L-bracket to the panel.    All you see is a single screw.   Its strong enough so that if a rider "accidently" grabs it in a moment of euphoria (or terror) it won't come loose.

Do many people cut a slot in the bottom of the glareshield for the top of the instrument panel to fit into? It seems that this would weaken the part of the glareshield that extends aft of the panel (eyebrow).
