REFLECTOR: Cancun?

I have never flown to Mexico, but our local flying club prohibits it because the Mexican government requires aircraft insurance through a Mexican insurance agency. The penalty for non-compliance can include confiscation of the airplane upon landing.

This may be old information. It may be just an old wives' tale. But I'd have hated myself if I had not said anything and you ended up "donating" your plane to Cancun!

I hope someone else will jump in if I'm spreading bad information.

Subject: REFLECTOR: Cancun?

Has anyone flown to Cancun via KEYW? Was thinking about doing a trip out there, but unsure about the pros and cons. I've been to the Bahamas, but that has a lot of land and the only thing with Cancun is the lack of it. I suppose there is Cuba on the way if necessary, but that would probably be a nightmare. Also, the weather is pretty bad. Not sure if XM can get coverage out there.
