Hi Patrick,
Those blades need to be Kevlar wrapped anyway. MT props are great on
tractor configured applications, but on pushers they are very poor in the
abrasion resistance dept. I have had significant FOD to my 3 blade MT over
time from taxiing and takeoff. On the 8th day the Lord created JB weld!
I am so jealous of your BETA capability, I suppose you run to WOT for a few
seconds once BETA range hits and blow the fan hard forward and then back to
positive pitch to avoid that FOD. When I'm heavy, wife and kids, I so long
for that as I'm laying into the brakes, and imagining the massive heat
building up inside my wheelpants.
I think I'd take the FOD...
Do you taxi backward?
