Reiff:

The smaller 1 ton hoist is fine. Your engine does not exceed 500 lbs.

Make sure the nose wheel is secured to the ground before you start hanging the engine.

You may have to re adjust the entrance doors after the engine is in place.

  Subject: REFLECTOR: What engine hoist?

  Reflector,

I've never installed an engine before, either in a car or plane. Are there any special requirements for the engine hoist I'm going to need to put an IO-550 on my XL? Can I just get a (relatively) inexpensive automotive hoist like this . . . ?

Torin T31002 Engine Hoist 1-Ton $320 including delivery

  · Lifting Range: 1inch - 78-3/4inch

  · Foldable for easy storage

  · Four wheel mobility

  · Heavy Duty

  · Perfect for Smaller Engine Blocks

  Or like this . . . ?

Black Bull CP8SS 2-Ton Engine Hoist $290 including delivery

  · Lifts most standard V8 Automobile engines and transmissions

  · 360 degree rotating head with 4 adjustable fingers

  · Solid steel 360 degree swivel crown casters for easy mobility

  · 8 ton ram longstroke jack

  · Folds for compact storage

. . . or is there something more specialized that I'm going to require. Thanks for any advice you can provide.
