All,
Years ago I ran my Long EZ exclusively on 93 octane Super Unleaded from the
retail pumps in San Diego: 550 hours with great results. I had the 0235L2C
that was famous for lead fouling the lower four plugs. UL 93 octane solved
the problems. I am noticing here in Texas and last week on my trip down to
Florida that many stations are advertising Ethanol Free gasoline in all
grades with even Iphone APPS to find E-Free gas stations, here is a link to
one of the web based station finders:

I have followed a few of the threads on Mogas and additive concern on
eating Jeffco etc. My question this, is anyone running Mogas in a Lycoming
or Continental currently? Auto conversions? What is your compression ratio
on Auto Conv's? I need to track down my compression ratio but believe I'm
at 8.9 to 1, and that 93 octane should be sufficient to prevent detonation.
I had such good luck with Mogas in the past I was disappointed in the
govt's decision to add ethanol with the issues it can bring to piston
aircraft. Now that E-Free gas is becoming increasing available I want to
explore it again. Will some of the new additives eat my airplane? Mogas
didn't use to do that....
