Custom race seats are strong and light weight but not usually cheap. They start around $400 and go up. Usually the side bolsters are too high to work in a plane. Regular car seats are way too heavy in my opinion for a plane.

I still have to drill new holes to get the copilot seat in. Door won't close on the right side because the seat bottom frame is hitting the bottom of the door.

I was wondering if anyone has ever used automotive seats and if so what model and year. I have measured the width between my keel and side of fuselage and it appears to be quite narrow. Any suggestions?
