I fly with my kids alot... The kids love them... They even call them their windows. I am always flying with more than 2 people so they always get used. It makes for cool pics of landing. it also lets you have a visual on the main gear. I used 1/4 scratch resistant lexan (not cheap) although after 2 years of flying almost every weekend they have light scratches in them. Nothing that cant be polished out... The only con I ran into is the cost of the lexan and the time to do it... other than that I love them...Jeff

I think I used 1/8" lexan, IIRC. Here's my take.

prossome folks get weird if they can't see the runway on final, and without them, they ain't seeing in the back much of the timethe strake limits near-field visibility for the back seat passenger, this helps (but not a fix)

constakes up fuel space (in retrospect, I would angle the outer/winglet end bulkhead from outer bottom to inner top to minimize)takes some time to docost some moneydoesn't make the plane faster, safer, or lighter
someone will invariably set something on them, scratching the Holy Living Crap (HLC) out of them (we made upholstery covers, or rather, had Dave Spano make them)how often is anyone going to realistically be back there?

Trying to decide if I am going to put windows in the strake baggage area.

I have seen several velocities with this option. Was wondering about pros and cons to doing this?

What type of material is best for this window?

Thank you,

Dan Schindler
