REFLECTOR: Top NACA scoop VG location

Kevin,

 

I don't remember getting much guidance on placing our VGs for the inlet
scoops, but they do seem to lower our CHTs up to 10 degrees.  Hopefully, you
can get a good idea from proportioning things from the photos -- I don't
have any exact measurements.  We used two rows because we definitely see
higher CHTs in the climb with lower climb airspeeds, so I'm assuming the air
on the top of the fuselage is separating earlier than where we put our
original set of VGs.  I would say our farthest set is about at the 18" mark
that Scott mentioned.

I have been told that ideally its about 12 to 18 inches.  Mine are about 6
inches which did improve the cooling but I didn't, see the numbers that
others have reported.

 

Now that its winter when running lop i'm running a bit too cold!
