REFLECTOR: Fuel Sight Gauges

Sorry there is no such thing as (absolutely no way for somebody to
accidentally pull the tygon tubing off the elbows.) I cover mine to be sure
my four year will never get mad and start pulling on a good sight gauge
handle when I'm at 10000 feet. Yes they are very hard to come off. But I do
not have to worry about it being a handle. Any thing can and will happen.

there is absolutely NO way for somebody to accidentally pull the tygon
tubing off the elbows. Your making a problem out of nothing, and spreading
a false rumor.

When I remove them I usually have to cut the tube and then pull and gyrate
the tube with a lot of force!

It would also be extremely difficult to cut or puncture the tubing. Its
just not going to happen accidentally if you use the correct tubing.

Use the sight gage of your choice, but don't implicate a tried and true
system because of unfounded fears.

As I metioned in my orginal post, "The 12" light strips nestle into the
curve of the Atkinson gauges".... I never liked the look of the elbow style
gauge, and I worried about someone in the back damaging them, as Jim rightly
pointed out, "accidentally pulls the tubing off the fittings and you have to
get to them in a hurry only to find them buried"... with Vance's guages I
don't have that concern.

Here's a picture of them getting glassed onto the bulkhead, with purple tape
to mask the bubble and keep it clean.

Tom,

I don't know, but you're reading my mind. Brett's look similar to mine and
I was
going to ask if anyone had a more detail pic of the Atkinson. Mine appear
to be
rounded at the top and bottom. What material are the Atkinson gauges made
of?
