REFLECTOR: Brazil wings - 10 years later

I am considering buying a Velocity XL RG project (reportedly just 10% complete) from 2000. The kit comes with the Brazilian fast-built wings that use ribs instead of foam cores. According to the owner/builder:
>>>The Brazilian wings are rib-and-spar based. They are about 10% lighter than the foam core wings. Mine are complete, ready to be primed and painted. I have a degree in Aeronautical engineering and if I were to order the kit again I would order the Brazilian wings again - wait until you see the craftsmanship!<<<
I've read in Velocity Views about the first failed test flight, and subsequent re-engineering and fix of the winglet flutter problem. The Brazilian wings were reportedly stronger and more rigid, but I know some builders still opted for foam-core wings back when there was a choice. I've searched the Reflector and found no indication of long-term problems, but also no reports of success with these wings.
Can anyone provide guidance for a future builder? Anyone actually flying with these wings?
Thanks in advance for any help!
