REFLECTOR: Fuel Vent System - 3

It should be allowing air from the engine area into the vent line.  If the check valve has an arrow on it – per the picture orientation – I would expect it to point down.

Well, in that case  the overflow lines are essential for venting.  In which direction is the check valve operating?

In this picture – there is a check valve – and the brass fitting at top appears to me to be what is going into your engine compartment.  That is the alternate venting for your tanks, in case the primary vent is clogged (ice, bugs, etc.)
