see
a vent coming from the top of the sump. I see two lines coming into a
manifold block just above the spar, and a line to a check valve - then
apparently through the firewall.
=20
Are the two lines into the block from the strakes? Where does the line =
go
to the wheel well? It may be that that check valve is intended to let =
air
in, and not let fuel out.
=20
In any case; if the vent lines do not extend up above the top of the =
strakes
before going to an exit; when fuel is near full you will lose fuel out =
of
the lines in climb or turbulence. If the lines vent out at the wheel =
well
that fuel will very likely result in fumes into the cabin.
=20
Best to look closely at where the lines run, understand how they need to
function, and go from there. It may be the installation is not as it =
needs
to be prevent loss of fuel.

I have an overflow vent installed in each tank. =20
If you are talking about the 'vent' system that allows air in as fuel =
goes
out; or air out of the sump as fuel initially goes in, then it is =
obviously
a requirement. If you mean an overflow line, that is something =
different
entirely, and not a normal part of the design.
=20
It's an overflow line.=20
=20
The vent system should follow the principles of the example given in the
manual - allow air into the highest point of each strake tank and sump =
tank;
then go to some high point above any level in the tanks (including
consideration of climb angle), and then out the bottom of the fuselage.=20
