REFLECTOR: drag reduction

There are a couple more Videos in there- parts 2, 3, 4 I think, one is
pretty interesting, shows a comparison of a smooth ball vs. a slightly
roughened surface ball- drag is less on the smooth ball up to about 150 mph,
then above that, suddenly, the rough ball has less drag- probably has
something to do with boundary layer drag- they never did explain the
phenomenon, but some food for thought...

A gem of a lesson on drag reduction. I sent it to our EAA local EAA member
list.

Thanks for sharing,

Dennis

It was amazing how that tiny wire had more drag than the 10 x thicker
airfoil shape- good thing we can mount all antennas internally!

Loved it ,really shows how small things hanging in the wind can slow you
down.
