REFLECTOR: ELT Ground Plane

I have just received my last piece of electronics, an ACK ELT, and the
instructions call for a 4' diameter ground plane for the antenna- 2' copper
strips radiating from the mounting point- I remember this being discussed
here before, but what was the solution? I was going to mount the antenna
somewhere near the firewall, but wanted to see what has been done.
