I think it's the magnitude of the power pulses.
The four cylinders are spread out over too many degrees, resulting in 
positive and negative torque on the root of the blades.  The Franklin at 
220HP is similar HP, but six cylinders.

I'm not aware of anyone testing the magnum on a 520.  If it had turbine 
type power, I'm sure it could handle a lot of power.  The problem is 
with the crush plate.  It has to hold on to the blades with friction.  
Once they start to pivot in the crush plate, they heat up and lose their 
integrity.

I think if IVO were to machine a collar to hold the blades it would work 
fine, but it would sure increase his manufacturing cost.  The design he 
has now is simple and lightweight, and proven (to not work on high power 
4-bangers).
