REFLECTOR: Reflector Digest, Vol 69, Issue 37, 2 speed pump

With my IO550, the procedure is to prime with the pump at high speed, then start at the low speed setting.  On approach always turn the pump on low.  On landing the speed will keep the engine turning over but as you slow down it will quit without the pump on low.  With the pump on it will idle quite smoothly at 800 RPM.

This works with my engine but it seems that some engines behave differently, comments welcome.
