REFLECTOR: FG Nose gear pt. 2

Since I was working on the gear anyway, I decided to beef up the nosegear assembly. I thought about the "taco gussets" that folks have mentioned, but didn't like the idea of not normalizing the unit after welding as I am fairly confident the stressors by the weld would eventually cause cracks. 



Having 1 unit normalized (stress relieved) cost almost as much as buying a new assembly from Velocity. So, I decided to just buy the new part. The welding is better than I could do, for sure and the new unit appears much stronger than the old? style ones.
