REFLECTOR: Yet another taxi test!

John, thanks for your experience on oil cooling. I figured as much
but confirmation is good to cut the worry factor down.

I think redline for the oil temp is 240F. We routinely run the 520's
oil temps in T210's right at redline during summer departures out of
Phoenix and other hot locales. Course they aren't shut down when the oil
is still hot. Maybe thats a factor?

I would have thought high cht's could cause broken rings..

I'll keep an eye on the oil consumption.

When the engine is warm, I try to get in the air asap (run-up while taxiing). I have blowers for the oil cooler and the engine and always use them on the ground when the engine is warm. That buys me some time, but temps still climb. 240F = 115 C. My oil has been that hot only once after a long taxi after landing at OSH. This resulted in broken rings in the two rear cylinders. Hopefully you don't have that problem. High oil consumption will be the indicator.
