REFLECTOR: Nose OIl cooler scoop flaw

I've wondered if taking the inlet air from the bottom (higher pressure) and exiting out the top of the fuselage (lower pressure) would improve cooling?

I would like to improve my oil cooling, most would.

I was looking at the scoop on the nose, thinking that is not a NACA
scoop. Its depth to width ration is all wrong, its got a round bottom
and worst of all the forward end or entry edge of the scoop does not
smoothly enter the scoop, it drops over a step?

I know, its not a NACA. It looks kinduv like one if you stand far enough
back, its really a flush mounted RAM scoop made to look like a NACA if
you squint your eyes real tight.

But, even as a flush mounted RAM scoop it has one fatal flaw that it
would also have if it were a NACA scoop. The entry edge has a d*** step
in it? Looking into the scoop from the in flight air's perspective, it
trips over that entry step down into the round bottomed scoop, sets up a
huge turbulent roll right at the entry!

Why did Maher or whoever designed the scoop do that? Didn't know
better? Didn't think it would matter? Its the same NACA'ish looking
scoop on all the Velocity's that I have seen. Do new kits have a better
designed scoop?

Well, whatever...

My question is has anybody sanded/grinded/cut a nice smooth entry into
the nose cooler scoop? And icing on the cake would be if you've flown
with the horrible(in theory) original and then fixed it with a smooth
entry? Noticed a difference in cooling efficiency?

I'm wondering if cutting into a brand new paint job to do that is worth
it? Maybe it gets so much ram pressure that fixing the design flaw
would not increase the pressure in front of the cooler in a measurable way?
