REFLECTOR: Lighting circuit question

A 1N4148 should work just fine as long as your lamps aren't pulling more 
than 200 ma.  A 1N4001 is very common and is rated at 1A forward current 
so it might provide you with a little more margin.  Keep in mind that 
you will have a voltage drop of between .7 and 1.1 volts across the 
diode depending on how much current is passing through it.
