REFLECTOR: Plenum drain?

If your not to far down the path of setting your V-shaped plenum off to one side, why don't you cut a notch to clear you RG linkage and then glass it in. This also makes a dam to stop water from going forward in the plenum.

Just a thought,

I have the older style V-shaped plenum and I was unable to run the plenum over the RG linkage- needed to run it to the side, and then down

Don,

I installed a AN816-6D fitting for my drain. I also made a dam at each end to keep water from going forward and aft in the plenum. I felt like that if your aircraft is parked on the ramp during a rain storm, that you could get quite a bit of rain in the plenum. I made the drain removable because the drain line goes straight down and in front of my sump tank. The other reason is so that it can be removable in case it gets clogged with trash and needs to be cleaned out. See attached photo's

I’m getting ready to install my overhead plenum. For the drain, it looks like most people run it out the bottom of the plenum and then (I guess) down the inside of the fuselage and out the bottom.

Rather than run all that tubing, why not run a small piece of nylaflo (or aluminum) through the firewall and then let the water simply run down the outside of the firewall?

I haven’t seen anyone do this so I’m guessing there’s a reason.
