REFLECTOR: PUSHER PROP

I can't make the comparisons like others can. It is my only experience. That said. I am happy with my Aerocomposite.

I asked myself what item's failure would kill my family or friends? The list was long but what big items would I be embarassed about or worse, to have skimped on? My answers: Engine - remanufactured 0 time Lycoming IO-540, Garmin GPS and Com and the best prop I can afford. The Garmin 430 was $13,000 back when purchased it so the AeroComposite was only slightly higher than the new MT I flew for over three hundred hours. The MT was always beat up and I repaired it five times and repainted six times and had it totally rebuilt before I sold it because I was not comfortable selling it as is. I then asked myself why I tolerated the MT so long? Because before the AC, it was the best I could do. We all ask these questions or should. Our answers differ but we live or die as pilots on each one of these. My family knows I build and fly with the best I can get and if I am found in a smoking hole it was probably my flying skills and not the plane or purchases that got me there.

Your mileage will vary but three thousand more for the best I can get is certainly reasonable to me.

When I wrote the check I felt the pain but I'm still glad I did it. Please check out the web site. It may be better than insurance.

Thats a lot of money to spend for a prop.

I think mine was 15 k. Lead was 4 months years ago. Gained 500 ft min climb and 8 knot at cruise. Blade cross section is much thinner and blades are MUCH STONGER. I'm very pleased. I am unaware of specific testing for harmonics with my io 540 260 hp.

Rene,

How much is a hydraulic AeroComposite prop for an XLRG 300hp IO540, and what is the normal lead time for delivery? Is the cruse speeds comparable to the MT. Has anyone done a harmonic vibration analysis on this prop airframe combination.

I like my AeroComposites prop so much, I painted my entire airplane to match it. :)

110 hours and going strong.

I need a hydrolic MT and the MT that I was using has been working fine for just over 500+ hours. If yours is hydrolic, what would you take for me to sweep it off your floor??..lol. I would like to call you if you could give me your number...

Thanks

Mitch

Hello everyone, looking for a MT 3 blade prop for a LYC IO360....any advice on where to look without breaking the bank?......Or, does anyone have another brand they like other than MT??

What type, electric or hydraulic? Is the engine counterweighted? I have invested over 18K in my mt for my IO-360-C1C over the past 8 years with still no workable prop. It sits again on my hanger floor fresh from overhaul with new blades and that is where it will stay. Even though it's zero time at this point, I could not sleep at night pushing it off on someone. I have come to the conclusion that the 180' firing pulses on the 360 (200hp) without counterweights are to violent for the bearing/seal design of the mt as this is what fails after approximately 40-50 hours.

Run Forest; Run!!

A friend with a cozy running a IO-360 is running the Aerocomposit with good results.

FYI,

TEC
