REFLECTOR: roll trim

Doug;

Yes, adding a shim to the top bolt on the right will increase its AOA and
maybe straighten things out. Just guessing; I'd try something about half the
thickness of the WA washer.

BTW; isn't there also an in-board top bolt, and did that have a shim washer
as well? Or am I having brain fade and the inboard bolt is on the bottom.

I don't notice a change in roll trim when having a passenger in the right
seat - maybe I'm just too insensitive, or maybe it's because I remove
ballast weight that is right of center on top of the canard (under the RBH).

I removed the large area washer shim from the top outboard wing bolt, but
I've still got a slight drift to the right when flying hands-free. It's not
much; my hand just needs to rest against the stick to get it to fly
straight. As luck would have it, removing the shim actually helped my cowl
to fit better on that side.

So now I guess the next step would be to add a shim on the right outboard
top wing bolt hole. But the cowl fits perfectly now, and I'd like to keep it
that way.

I've got an EZ-Pilot for aileron trim. If I shim the wings to fly straight
and level flying solo, will I still need to trim with a passenger on the
right side?

I'm pretty pleased with N2980W's performance so far: 165 kts true at 6000
feet turning 2550 RPMs with ECI's parallel valve IOX-360, a fixed pitch
2-blade prop, and no wheel pants.
