REFLECTOR: FOD

Thanks a lot, Andy. I got one big gouge on the leading edge a month ago, as
big as your little finger and it even gouged the maple a little bit. I was
worried that it was too big to patch, so I sent a picture to Lonnie and he
told me I could do it with JB Weld, and he told me about the new leading
edge protection he was starting to use. (That JB Weld repair is working
great, BTW. Amazing.) I guess I'll send him the prop one of these days when
the plane is going to be on the ground for awhile.

And I guess I'd better start flying with the wheel pants to protect the
prop. I don't like not being able to see most of the tires and the brakes,
and I don't like how much hotter it gets inside the pants from the brakes
after taxiing.

I just had an idea... I think I'll put a big hatch on top of the wheel pants
that I can open up after I land to cool the brakes, and open up before I
take off to inspect the tires and brakes. (I've already got a NACA scoop
that blows cooling air on the brakes.)

Doug
