Didn't really respond. I didn't see any point. I was just disappointed.

In response to "It must be nice to be rich", the correct answer is "Yep".
Saves a lot of BS discussion.

I went to Rough River last year. Waiting for Brett and Beth to show up. :)

That was my first encounter with Canard Class Discrimination. It was pretty
heavy handed at times.

As soon as I mentioned I was building a Velocity the reply was "It must be
nice to be rich." Then they went into how I "snapped the airplane together
instead of actually building it."

It was amazing...

Yea- I get that from the EZ guys at my field- although they somehow have
fully accepted the local Burkut builder- probably because the design is so
similar. I gain some favor because I did not get any fast build options so
I usually start the conversations with how tough it was (not) to get the
foam cores lined up and sanded on the wings, then they counter with how easy
it must have been to just glue 2 fuselage halves together.....

I would add that there is a not so subtle class system within the EZ
crowd, with Velocity's at the bottom.

What did we do wrong in their log filled eyes?

1.) We are flying an airplane Rutan said, "would not fly", Maher proved
him wrong and did it any way. At least thats the story.

2.) Its a "no don't say it!", kit plane. Real canards are plans built.

3.) Velocity's sell(turn over) more than EZ's, so there is a perceived
higher percentage of bought Velocity's. A good number of these bought
Velocity's are owned by people with have an avid interest in flying and
not much in building. How could they?

PS. Boy would this message get some traction on the
rec.aviation.homebuilt news group! I'd have to put on my Nomex suit!
