REFLECTOR: Unexpected door opening

I like the shocking grid idea. It would not raise my pulse rate more than
the door beginning to open did.

An idea that might help is to use the door warning switch to disable the
starter circuit for our aircraft. Both door switches could be connected in
series to the starter relay coil and start switch, so that an open door
would break the start circuit. The problem with this is, it doesn't stop us
from opening our doors to taxi, and then to forget to fully close the doors
before we take off. (Takeoff Check list) This issue would take a throttle
switch and then an electrical shocking grid located in the pilots seat, to
shock the crap out of us to wake up and shut the door before we take off.
oooooh!!! I know this isn't a funny issue, but we as pilots do have to take
some responsibility to keep ourselves and our passengers safe.

Is a better warning system for an improperly secured door needed, such as
limit switches on all latching pins?

IMHO; yes.  Probably not necessary on all pins.  I'd trust the linkage
system in the door enough that I would be satisfied knowing one (like the
bottom front, as the most important) is in place.
